How to make homemade Uruguayan pastries in record time
If you want to enjoy a delicious afternoon snack along with your mate, keep reading this post. Below, we will share with you a very easy-to-follow recipe that will teach you how to make Uruguayan pastries (best known as ‘facturas’) from the comfort of your home.
Ingredients:
- 180 grams of flour (0000)
- 20 grams of sugar
- 70 ml of milk
- 40 ml of warm water
- 35 grams of butter
- 5 grams of yeast
- a pinch of salt
Step-by-step recipe:
1. Combine the flour with the yeast, vanilla essence, sugar, and water. Then add the milk and butter and knead until you form a good dough.
2. Let it rest for 20 minutes, then roll it out into a rectangular shape and spread a mixture of butter and flour over it.
3. Fold the ends and leave in the fridge for 20 minutes. After that, remove it from the refrigerator and roll it out into a rectangular shape again.
4. Trim the ends to make an even rectangle, and then cut small triangles (each of these will turn into a croissant).
5. Make a small cut in the middle of each triangle and roll it up. Connect the ends, leaving a hole in the middle.
6. In the hole of each pastry, add pastry cream and let it rest for 20 minutes.
7. Brush the pastries with egg and bake them in a hot oven for 12 minutes.
8. Brush the pastries again, this time with syrup and sugar.
And you’re done! You'll now be able to enjoy a Uruguayan-style breakfast or snack from anywhere in the world.
